Researchers from the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere, I.P. (IPMA), from A. Silva Matos Metalomecânica, from the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science (INESC TEC), from the Porto School of Engineering (ISEP) and the Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR), have developed a system for capturing and conserving species at depths of up to 1000 metres.

This solution allows to bring species to the surface avoiding damage caused by pressure differences, and keeping them alive for later studies. The first demonstrations of this technology will take place between 23rd of April and the 2nd of May, onboard the RV Mário Ruivo.
