Between 20th November and 4th December 2021, the multidisciplinary campaign Crista Madeira-Tore took place onboard the RV Mário Ruivo, with the main objectives: the acquisition of oceanographic, biological and geological data for the characterization of the environmental benchmark situation at Crista Madeira-Tore (CMT), marine litter inventory potentially existing on the bottom and in the water column and the characterization of natural resources that occur along this geomorphological unit.

The mapping of the substratum type and the distribution of mineral resources were also objectives achieved by rock and sediment samples collection. In parallel to these scientific objectives, there were also operational objectives related to the use of different sampling equipment, including the ROV Luso of the Portuguese Task Group for the Extension of the Continental Shelf (EMEPC).
