Internship students at NNIO participate in national scientific meetings

The final-year students of the degree in Environmental and MarineTechnologies of the School of Technology of Setúbal of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal, Pedro Martins and Rita Pinheiro, presented the results of the work developed under their curricular internships at the Research Vessels and Ocean Observatories Group of IPMA.

Pedro Martins presented the Poster entitled “Study on the spatial and temporal coverage of the Argo network in the Northeast Atlantic” at the Oceanography Meeting 2022 that took place between June 6 and 7 in Vieira de Leiria. Rita Pinheiro presented her work entitled “The Argo network in the Northeast Atlantic (mainland Portugal and the archipelagos of Azores and Madeira)” at the 7as Jornadas de Engenharia Hidrográfica / 2as Jornadas Luso-Espanholas de Hidrografia that took place in Instituto Hidrográfico between the 21st and 23rd of June 2022. Both works contribute to the Atlantic Observatory Project – Data and Monitoring Infrastructure funded by the EEA Grants, and provide important information for the characterization of the spatial coverage of the Argo floats in the area of interest for Portugal, supporting the investment decision in the enlargement of the observation network and selection of sites to monitor. We congratulate the graduate Pedro Martins and the finalist student Rita Pinheiro for the excellent results achieved.
