Elisabete Dias and Paulo Barata from IPMA took part in the Oceanography meeting, held on 3 and 4 May 2024 in Peniche, to promote WEAREATLANTIC digital platform.

The concept behind the data platform being developed by IPMA was presented to the Portuguese Oceanography community. The objectives, structure and procedures to be adopted for ingesting, managing and making information available were shared, with the aim of making the scientific community aware of the importance of sharing data, not only from the point of view of optimising ocean observation, following the principle of “measure once, use many times”, but also from the point of view of contributing to the development of technological, scientific, economic and literacy activities linked to the sea.

The WEAREATLANTIC digital platform is an infrastructure created to centralize and make available marine data on the Atlantic basin, developed as part of the PDP2 project: Atlantic Observatory – Data and Monitoring Infrastructure, funded by the EEA Grants Blue Growth programme.
